High House Farm Brewery
Stacey & Tim booked us for their wedding photography at High House Farm Brewery in Matfen. We love this venue and were really looking forward to it. The date was particularly special to us seen as it was the 3rd of May which also happens to be our own wedding anniversary! It was our 2nd anniversary this year. They also had a pre wedding photo shoot at Tynemouth beach to ease their nerves for the pictures on the big day!
We arrived at Stacey’s mum’s house on the morning of the wedding where the bride was getting ready with her bridesmaids, her mum and sister and the couple’s two daughters Maya and Lydia.
Stacey’s mum and sister were doing everyone’s hair (benefits of having hairdressers in the family!) and one of the bridesmaid’s did the bride’s make up expertly!
The children were super excited to wear their pretty dresses and couldn’t wait to get them on!
Sadly the weather wasn’t on side for the day so far as it had been raining constantly- we were keeping everything crossed for improvements and a bit of sunshine.
With everyone looking beautiful the little ones were allowed to get their dresses on and looked like perfect mini princesses!
Stacey was helped into her dress by her bridesmaids, and after adding some amazing shoes and her jewellery she was ready to go.
As Stacey sadly no longer has her dad a close family neighbour was to give her away. He arrived and everyone was ready to get in the cars and head off to the venue.
On the journey towards Matfen the weather was starting to look a little brighter so we were still keeping fingers and toes crossed!
When we arrived Tim was in the barn with his groomsmen and the guests were getting ready to take their seats. The guys all looked a little nervous but were in good spirits waiting for the bride to arrive.
Amazingly when the wedding cars arrived the rain had stopped! Stacey’s dad was clearly looking over her for the day!
The couple made their vows and exchanged wedding rings and Tim finally got to kiss his new wife, and as you can see they looked over the moon to be husband and wife. The formalities of signing the register were done and the couple walked back up the aisle.
We used the courtyard at the entrance to the barn for a big group photo, and then spent some time doing family portraits. We try and get the formal photos done within half an hour so it doesn’t take up a large portion of the day and so guests don’t get bored. The weather also was now clear and the sun was out with some bright blue skies and a few fluffy clouds! You would never know it had been raining earlier!
High House Farm Brewery has amazing surroundings so we didn’t need to go far with the couple for some amazing photos. We had a walk around and used the rustic buildings as different backdrops, and the brightly coloured fields. The couple were a bit unsure on having photos taken, less so after their pre wedding shoot, but as you can see it doesn’t show in their pictures and they both look very relaxed and blissfully happy together. We get the best results from the couple’s photos when we take a break from the wedding party as people can relax without feeling intimidated, and this shows in the photos!
We even managed to grab a quick shot of the couple pulling a pint from their own personal ale that was brewed for them- aptly named ‘Hogg’s Hooter’ after Stacey’s maiden name Hogg. We’re told there’s a story to go with it too but you’d have to ask them about that…
It was almost time for the meal and the barbecue was smoking away cooking some delicious food for the meal. We popped into the marquee to get some detail shots before everyone came in to sit for the meal. The marquee looked fabulous with rustic décor, from fresh flowers to the table plan which was set up on a painted vintage pair of stepladders. We hear there were blood sweat and tears that went into those ladders that were hand done!
All the guests entered and took their places and the speeches began. First up was Stacey’s neighbour that gave her away who gave a lovely short speech thanking Stacey for giving him the opportunity to do it for her. Next up was Tim who delivered a confident heartfelt speech showing how much he loved his wife and how important his family are to him. Last to take centre stage was the best man. He certainly didn’t disappoint telling hilarious tales of him and Tim when they were younger leaving Tim with his head in his hands embarrassed! He had everyone laughing and did a brilliant job.
We left the guests to enjoy their meal and made ourselves busy getting a sample of the photos from the day ready to go on our projector for the evening, and set the PropBox up for some fun evening shots.
The room was turned around for the evening with more tables added, with twinkiling lights in the roof of the marquee and an amazing DJ and light set up (thanks to Tim and his friends) The evening entertainment began with some great music from the DJ’s and the kids were having great fun with the silly props.
The bride and groom cut their beautiful cake and then made their way to the dance floor for their first dance together before other couples joined them on the floor. After the first dance there was no stopping the guests and the dancing- even grandma was busting some moves out!
The dancing and fun continued and everyone was up on the dance floor strutting their stuff in style
When we left the party was still jumping and was definitely set to continue into the early hours with some amazing tunes playing! Overall it was a lovely day for everyone and we had brilliant time too. This couple have an beautiful set of photos from the day! We hope they like them as much as we do!
Thanks Stacey & Tim for choosing us to photograph your fun filled wedding day and capture those lovely memories. We wish you all the best for the future!
