Wedding photography at the Anchor Inn Whittonstall

Amy & Sam

Amy & Sam booked us for their wedding photography at a beautiful church in Mickley, Northumberland, and their reception at The Anchor Inn in Whittonstall. We have been photographing the couple’s son. Oliver, since he was a baby so it was lovely to be able to photograph their wedding as well!

Getting Ready
Amy had her hair and makeup done with the bridal party at the stylish walnut hair & beauty salon in Prudhoe. Both Amy and Sam’s mum were there as well as the bridesmaids and flower girls.

Amy and her best friend bridesmaid Elise were chilling out in their onesies having their hair and makeup expertly done. How cool is the bride’s choice of onesie?!
Amy wore her hair up and with a beautiful veil added she was ready to go! Everyone headed down to Amy’s mums to get dressed!

While Laura had been with the girls at the salon Nick popped up the road to Sam’s mum’s house where all the boys were getting ready. There were plenty of drinks doing the rounds and everyone was in high spirits ready for the day ahead- even the family parrot joined in the celebrations!

Little Oliver looked super cute in his suit and the rest of the guys had scrubbed up well too! Nick left just as a surprise for Sam turned up as his mum had arranged a big truck to take him to the church! Sam is a truck driver himself and a bit of a car and truck fanatic so it was a great way for him to get there!

Amy had someone come out from a local alterations shop to fit her into her dress so it was less stress and done up expertly! She was going to have comfy feet all day in a special pair of customer converse too. With a bit of help from her mum she had her jewellery on and the cars had arrived ready to go to the church..

The Ceremony
The guests were all in their seats at the church waiting for the arrival of the bridal party, and Sam was at the front with his best man.

The little page boys and flower girls walked down the aisle first, followed by the bridesmaids and then Amy entered the church accompanied by her dad who was to walk her down the aisle.
The couple made their wedding vows to each other and exchanged wedding rings and every one sang hymns. Oliver was pottering around quite happily providing everyone with a bit of entertainment! Sam got to kiss his bride and the register was signed to make everything official! They looked so in love and very happy as the ceremony finished and they walked back up the aisle together.

Everyone headed out to the front of the church for the family and group photographs, we just managed to get the big group photo done before it started to rain. Everyone made a dash for the cars and headed up the Anchor for the reception.

The Romantic Couple’s Photographs
We stopped with the car at a viewing point and seemed to have beaten the rain to it. However by the time we got out the car the rain started! That wasn’t stopping us and we gave the bride & groom two umbrellas and caught a couple of shots with the car anyway. Rain wasn’t stopping this couple from having fun at all! After a short time at the Anchor the rain stopped and the sun came out so we grabbed the opportunity to take Amy and Sam a short walk along the road where we found an avenue of trees for some beautiful romantic photos of the couple together. They were very relaxed and did a great job having their photos taken- we think you will agree they look gorgeous! Being relaxed and comfortable with your wedding photographers is a huge benefit to a couple on their wedding day as it shows in the pictures. The stunning countryside setting looks amazing.

The rain was back again (nothing like a bit of unpredictable British summer weather to keep us on our toes!) so we popped back inside for everyone to have a drink and chill out.
The rain didn’t last long so we managed to get back out and get all the family photos done quickly.
We were also honoured with a gorgeous rainbow so of course had to have some photos with that in the background and even Oliver joined in!

The Speeches
The room was set ready for the meal and looked amazing with the cake set up, there was a table with photos of loved ones that were sadly no longer with the family and pretty vintage accents throughout. Guests came in and took their seats for the speeches to begin.
Amy’s dad gave the first speech with some lovely words and a lot of emotion- clearly proud of the couple and grandson Oliver.

The groom took his turn next and his speech got some great reactions from the bridal party, telling stories of him and Amy and how much he loves and cares for her and little Oliver. It got a little emotional when he was talking about how much he misses them when he is away during the week for work. You can tell he truly loves them both.

Sam’s brother Harry, the best man was next to speak. He had some hilarious stories about him and Sam growing up and the antics that they got up to. He did a brilliant job and got a lot of laughter from the crowd with a really witty speech, although he is currently in the Navy we think he should consider a career as a comedian!

Party time!
After the meal the guests made their way to the bar areas to relax while the room was set up ready for the evening celebrations, the DJ was setting up to get the party started.
We had a bit of a gap before the evening reception started and the groomsmen were in high spirits so we got the guys together for a few fun shots and they were keen to show off their matching union jack socks!

We took the opportunity to pop outside and get a few shots with Amy and Sam with the sun setting over the countryside with the bride and groom and a couple of their close friends.
After a quick cutting of the cake was done Mr and Mrs Sharman hit the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife, all the guests were watching as one of our confetti cannons was set off and rained bright sprinkles of confetti over the couple and then others joined them on the dance floor. The kids were running round having lots of fun. The party really started then and everyone was having a great time partying on the dance floor. The night was in full flow when we left with and looked like it was set to continue into the early hours!

Overall it was a fun day for everyone involved and we had a great time capturing the whole wedding. We hope they love their photos! Thanks to Amy and Sam for choosing us to photograph their special day and allowing us to capture their memories to treasure for years to come, we had a blast!

We wish you all the best for the future together as husband and wife!
