Newcastle Wedding photographer at the Royal station hotel

Krystal and Scott 21st august 2014

The Royal Station hotel

We have got to know Krystal and Scott and their family quite well over the last year or so. They first booked us to photograph Jake, their youngest son's christening, and we have done several children’s portraits since then so we were thrilled when they asked us to photograph their wedding!

They had chosen to have the whole day at The Royal Station Hotel in Newcastle city centre.

Getting ready
Krystal got ready at home with her bridesmaids, Ross and Charlie (the couple’s older sons). They had some sparkly glitter champagne glasses they were all having drink from. The flowers looked beautiful and emotions were running high. Krystal was helped into her gorgeous gown by her bridesmaid, and Ross carefully fastened her necklace for her, the boys looked fab in their suits all dressed up! The bride slipped her shoes on, and with a quick spray of her favourite perfume she was ready to go.

Krystal travelled to the hotel with Ross and Charlie in their vintage Daimler.

Scott was waiting nervously for his brides arrival, he was a little stressed as unfortunately there had been some issues with the events company that were booked to provide chair covers and centrepieces etc. Fortunately the Royal Station Hotel really care about their couples day being perfect and pulled out all the stops using their own chair covers and sashes to dress the room in record time so it looked amazing! We couldn’t fault the hotel for how much they came through for this couple and sorted everything out for them to take the stress off them and make their day amazing still!

The Ceremony
The bridal procession came down the aisle and Scott got to see his beautiful bride. Ross and Charlie walked Krystal down the aisle looking so happy, Krystal looked so proud of them.

The couple said their vows to each other, they exchanged wedding rings and Krystal’s niece Emily did a wonderful job with a reading, then the couple had their first kiss and husband and wife! The register was then signed for the formalities and the ceremony was over. After a lovely ceremony we headed off for some family photos on the stairs and on the steps outside the hotel.

Romantic quayside portraits
We whisked the couple away down to the Quayside in Newcastle in their vintage Daimler wedding car for some beautiful couple’s photos. We had a walk along the Millennium Bridge (much to the surprise of many tourists and by passers- probably not a usual sight to see a bride and groom in the middle of the bridge!) for some shots and alongside it, and even with a grumpy parking attendant causing us issues we grabbed the opportunity for some stunning shots with the wedding car in front of the bridge. The Quayside setting is beautiful for photographs, you can see the Tyne Bridge, Millennium Bridge, The Sage and The Baltic all from being in one place. There’s no mistaking where you got married with these wedding photographs!

The Speeches
When we returned it was time for the speeches and the meal. The speeches were fabulous and had everyone laughing- Krystal tried to hide from her Dad’s embarrassing tales about her as a child in a napkin! Her dad gave a great speech. Ross and Charlie also gave a lovely speech about how happy they were for their mum and Scott that set everyone’s emotions off with a few tears! Scott gave his speech with a great big smile on his face and he thanked the bridesmaid and the family for all their help. Mean while the kids were playing with their goody bags which were packed with fun things to keep them amused! Check their glasses and teeth out!

While the guests had a lovely meal we grabbed a sandwich and worked on getting a selection of the days photos edited and put them into a slideshow ready for our projector to be set up for the evening reception. The projector service is a great way of showing evening guests a taste of what happened during the day and provides a great talking point between guests!

The Party
There was a photo booth for guests to have lots of silly pictures in, the DJ was set up ready to go and the newlyweds hit the dance floor for their first dance. They had an exploding balloon for part way through the dance to add to the entertainment! Everyone got on the dance floor ready to party the night away!

We had a wonderful day photographing the Richardson wedding, thanks to them both for choosing us to be there to share it with them and we’re sure we will see them again very soon for some more portraits of the children at Christmas!

Their photos are amazing and they will hopefully look back on them to remember those wonderful moments for years to come. We know they will have a long and happy marriage together as a family!
