Victoria & Nigel 13th September 2014
Jesmond Dene House
We met Victoria and Nigel at a wedding fair. We instantly clicked and got along resulting in us photographing their wedding. They liked us, they liked our packages and they liked our work. these 3 things are super important when booking your wedding photography! You may recognise them from a previous blog as we also did a pre wedding photo shoot at Bolam Lake as Nigel was a bit nervous for having his photos done, pre wedding shoots are great for preparing couples for their big day! They had their big day at St Gabriels church in Heaton and then went on to Jesmond Dene House (many of our blog readers will know thats a special venue to us seen as we got married there ourselves in May 2013!)
Getting Ready
Nigel was getting ready at home so Victoria had booked into the Premier Inn at Benton for getting ready as she stayed there the night before too. She was getting ready with her mum and bridesmaids and they were all in great spirits. Victoria was the ultimate organised bride so had a separate room that had all the dresses and flowers in to keep them out the way while hair and make ups were being done! Kerry and Kerry (yes it got a little confusing!) expertly did Victoria and her bridesmaids hair and make up and everyone looked stunning.
There were gifts all round in the room for the bridesmaids, mothers of the bride and groom, the father of the bride and of course the all important gift for Victoria from Nigel. Nigel’s little gift was embedded in a box filled with love heart sweets. Nigel is definitely a keeper Victoria! The groom had also received a gift from the bride, though only part of it... He received the controller for a PS4 but wasn’t allowed the rest of it till later!
Victoria was helped into a stunning dress with lots of layers of fabric, a proper princess gown. The look was completed with an amazing cathedral length veil.
The wedding cars had arrived so it was off to the church with the bridesmaids in one car and Victoria and her dad in another. They were beautiful vintage Daimlers in black and cream.
The Ceremony
Nigel was at the church ready and waiting with his best man and family. He looked a little nervous but seemed to be doing ok waiting for his bride to arrive. Victoria arrived with her dad and they entered the church, we must commend the bridesmaids on making sure the brides dress was spread out perfectly before she walked down the aisle!
The vows were made, rings were exchanged and there were hymns sung. There were readings by friends and family and they couple kneeled for a blessing- showing some fab stickers on the soles of the couples shoes! I Do for Victoria and Game Over for Nigel - nice for a bit of humour to show their personalities throughout the day! Nigel kissed the bride and they signed the register. Everyone congratulated the couple as they left the church and went outside to do some traditional confetti throwing!
We went to the gardens at the back of the church for the big group photo and some
family formals which were done nice and organised as Victoria had provided us with
a shot list of the family groups they wanted to capture.
The men had a bit of fun strutting their stuff as well.
The guests then headed off to the reception venue at Jesmond Dene House
The Bride and Groom Portraits
The car took Victoria and Nigel down to Jesmond Dene for some couples portraits while the weather was on our side! We did our favourite walk around the Dene using amazing backdrops like the waterfall and woodland scenery.
Victoria and Nigel seemed to have a lot of fun having their photos taken and were up for anything we threw at them. We think a lot of this relaxed attitude stemmed from them having the pre wedding photo shoot so they felt relaxed and comfortable with us. They pulled off some fabulous poses and used some of our props as well.
They were truly enjoying their special day together. We whizzed back up to Jesmond Dene house ready for the reception to begin.
The Speeches
The room was set up and looking amazing in the great hall for the reception and wedding breakfast. The speeches began with Victorias father who gave a lovely speech and is clearly proud of his daughter and loves Nigel too. Nigel had a few words to say as well then it was time for the best man to give his speech. He gave brilliant speech with jokes and kept everyone entertained.
Thank you gifts were given out to everyone that helped out with the wedding plans which was lovely. Everyone settled down for their amazing meal.
The In between Time!
There is often a bit of time in-between the meal ending and the evening reception starting. We used this gap to do a few more photos outside using the grounds of the venue (well they are very pretty so its a shame not to use your surroundings)
We spent a bit of time in the new Secret Garden outside and even managed to get an exclusive couple of photos down in the wine cellar at the brides request.
We snuck a few photos up on the balcony too before heading back inside for the evening guests arriving.
The evening reception and party time!
The great hall had been transformed again ready for the evening with the DJ set up in the fire place and the centrepieces lit and changing colours with remote control- how cool!
There was plenty entertainment for guests throughout the night! Victoria and Nigel had set up an amazing candy buffet for people to help themselves to lots of sweets and goodies, even including a sherbet shot bar! This went down great with everyone. Our friends from Deluxe Occasions were set up with their fab Photo Booth which got everyone giggling and pulling silly poses!

The couple made their way to the dance floor for their first dance and had a confetti cannon set off to add flare to those great first dance pictures. Others joined them on the floor to party the night away.
Everyone was having a great time and there was even a bit of caterpillar action going on too!
When we were ready to leave the party was still going strong and looked set to continue into the early hours.
We had a fab time at the Hinchliffe wedding. We went away feeling like part of the family. We hope Nigel and Victoria had as much fun as we did for their big day! They certainly have an amazing set of photos to remember the occasion by to come to them!
Thanks for letting us be involved.
We wish you all the best as Mr and Mrs Hinchliffe for the future!
