Wedding Photography at the Centre for Life

Colin & Mark

The Centre for life Newcastle

Colin & Mark booked us for their wedding photography at Newcastle Civic Centre and then their reception at the amazing Centre for Life in Newcastle centre.
Colin and Mark were super excited for their big day and had spent a long time planning all the little details. We were really looking forward to it!

Getting Ready
We joined Colin at a family member’s home for his getting ready photos. They were all in high spirits when we arrived and Colin was super excited for his big day! Everyone was helping him get ready, and he had a very sharp looking suit to dress in with some stylish shoes and a purple buttonhole to match the colour theme.

Hair had been done and make up was in full swing with everyone looking their best. Bridesmaid Laura and friend Dominic were on hand to help Colin with anything he needed, making sure he had a drink to settle his nerves!

The car arrived downstairs to take everyone to the civic centre for the ceremony so we headed off to meet the other groom Mark before the ceremony started.

The Ceremony
Mark was at the civic centre already with his friends and family waiting for Colin to arrive.  He was a little bit nervous but looking forward to their special day. Guests were making their way into the room for the ceremony to begin and the doors were closed to wait for Colin’s arrival.

Colin was walked down the aisle by two special ladies in his life that both looked very proud to have this honour. The couple looked so happy to see each other and the ceremony began. They read personal vows to each other which were very emotional and heartfelt and there was also a lovely reading. The wedding rings were exchanged and the couple were now married! They had their first kiss and then the register was signed to make it all official.
They walked back up the aisle as Mr and Mr Barrass together looking so happy!

Everyone headed out to the front of the civic centre for a group photograph and some confetti throwing pictures too. We then arranged the formal family photos that the couple wanted taken, this was made a bit more special as they arranged for their gorgeous little dog Damon to be brought down to the venue so that he could be included in the pictures.  He posed like a little star and was good as gold. .

The Romantic Couple’s Photographs
After the family photos were finished the guests made their way to a bus to go to the Centre For Life for the reception. We kept the guys back for a few couple’s shots in the grounds of the Civic Centre and some shots with the car.

When we arrived at the Centre for Life we used some of the urban backgrounds to get some more fab shots. The building makes an industrial feel backdrop for an amazing jumping shot, and an old stone wall opposite the building gives a different look again.
We had a lot of fun with Mark and Colin doing their shots and they look so happy throughout them you can tell they did too!

The Speeches
The room was set ready for the meal and looked amazing with the cake set up that Mark had made himself. We have to give him credit it looked fab. The cake toppers were two Ken dolls that had been personalised to look like the Grooms. The ‘Colin’ doll had glasses and was reading a book, and the ‘Mark’ doll was ever true to him by posing for a ‘Selfie!’
Guests came in and took their seats for the speeches to begin. We see more and more speeches done before the meal so that they are out the way and people can enjoy the meal without the stress of a speech hanging over them!

Angela from Colin’s family was up first and gave a great speech, followed by Colin who had prepared a lovely reading that made everyone a bit emotional!
It was all eyes on Mark’s brother next for his speech! He did a brilliant job and had everyone laughing a lot. He made Mark cry by presenting him with a gorgeous photo of their baby (Damon the Dog!) and then had everyone crying with laughter when he presented Mark with a blow up doll in the style of Britney Spears who marks loves.

Laura- colin’s bridesmaid was up next to say a few short words which were appreciated, then although it wasn’t planned mark decided to say a short few words about how happy he was to be married to Colin at last, and finished with his signature SELFIE of the room!
After the speeches we then took a break to let everyone enjoy their meal and we got to work on a selection of the images from the day so far so they could be ready to go up on our projector for the evening reception guests to see!  We love our Image Projector service and it goes down so well with guests as it’s a wonderful way to include evening guests in what happened during the day time and a great talking point for everyone too, as well as giving the couple a sneaky peak at what’s to come!

Party time!
After the meal the guests made their way to the bar areas to relax while the room was set up ready for the evening celebrations. We had the projector set up and our PropStudio was set up with funny props for fun photos too.

We popped outside with the guys for some cool shots of them with some cigars, and went for a walk with the couple round to the main entrance and did some shots with the Helix sculpture and the quirky looking walls of the building. Then we were let into centre to the closed public exhibitions which was really cool- so we had some poses with lab coats and experiments, and one with Colin’s favourite thing- The Tardis! Again the couple were up for anything and had a lot of fun! (so did we!)

After a quick cutting of the cake was over, Mr & Mr Barrass took to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and husband, all the guests were watching then others joined them on the dance floor.

The PropStudio had people queuing up some daft photos with lots of silly poses! The party really started then and everyone was having a great time partying on the dance floor. The night was in full flow when we left! There was a lot of partying on the dance floor with everything from knee slides to Mark strutting his stuff wearing a pair of his friends heels (he danced in them better than Laura can walk in hers!)

The staff even got in on the entertainment and one of the coordinators dressed as Super Mario (there is  currently a gaming exhibition on at the centre) and did a few laps around the room which had the guys and the guests laughing too!

Overall it was an amazing day for everyone and we had a brilliant time photographing this quirky wedding. We hope they love their pictures as much as we enjoyed taking them! Thanks to Colin and Mark for choosing us to photograph their special day and allowing us to capture their memories to treasure for years to come, we loved every minute of it!

We wish you all the best for the future together!
